Whether it be by praying five times a day or by observation, The Meta Mosque's 3D digital file can be experienced in virtual reality from the comfort of your own home using VR headsets, and or has the capability to be integrated into your own Metaverse.

THE POWER OF CONNECTION

Meeting The Needs Of An Ever Changing World

The effects of COVID-19 not only impacted millions of people globally by causing widespread health, economic, and social consequences but also disrupted religious practices and gatherings around the world. 

 

Unfortunately, the pandemic resulted in the closure of numerous physical prayer spaces, a reduction in the number of worshippers, and changes in accessibility and communal experiences due to rules and regulations involving social distancing and limited physical gatherings.

 

As a result, Mosques were identified as potential hotspots for transmission of the virus due to the close proximity of worshippers during prayers, the use of common facilities such as ablution areas and prayer rugs, and large gatherings during religious holidays and events. 

 

Consequently, these factors highlighted the need for an innovative solution - such as virtual prayer spaces - in order to provide people with an alternative means to connect with their community and participate in religious practices during these unprecedented times. 

 

As a result, the innovative concept behind

‘The Meta Mosque’ was developed.

While virtual mosques cannot fully replicate the experience of attending a physical mosque, The Meta Mosque is a unique and innovative solution that combines technology and religion to provide Muslims with a convenient and immersive way to connect with their faith and community. This platform is designed specifically to meet the needs of today's Muslims, who are looking for accessible and convenient ways to stay connected with their religion by :

DESIGN SIGNIFICANCE & KEY FEATURES

Islamic architecture is defined, in part, by an emphasis on transforming space through the decoration of surfaces.

 

Notably within the Quranic verse that carries its name (24:32), the significance of ‘Light’ translates to the divinity, guidance, and true knowledge of Allah. Therefore, the fundamental aspect of the Mosque’s core design explores the duality of light and decoration.

 

Enacting this vision, instead of ornamenting the Meta-Mosque's interior in rich colorful patterns, traditional geometric Islamic star patterns were utilized as the Meta-Mosques parametric facade design in order to allow natural light to constitute

a decorative architectural tool - enabling kaleidoscopic golden rays of sunlight to form golden pools across the interior surfaces, as well

as enriching it with playful shadows.

 

The first and last prayers of the day occur before and after the sun rises and sets, therefore, the

ever-changing light is significant to the overall atmosphere of the Meta-Mosque design at any moment in time. Furthermore, golden metal

trims with LED lighting follow the edges of the exterior facade outlining each undulating layer, reflecting and shimmering across the water's moonlit mirrored surface at night - continuing

the emphasis of light.
